Organization of the Meeting

The symposium is organized in topical sessions and within each topic, invited speakers will illustrate the frontiers of current knowledge (often developed in model systems) as well as the current and future pipeline of progress toward applications in crops or managed ecological systems (see list of topics above organized by sessions). Speakers are drawn from academia, research organizations, private industry and stakeholder groups. Oral presentations will be short (~30 min), and moderated panel discussions will follow the presentations within each topical session. Poster presentations will be invited and dedicated poster sessions will be held. The organizing committee may invite selected poster authors to make short oral presentations in the appropriate sessions.

The meeting is the inaugural symposium of what is planned to be an annual series sponsored in part by the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of California, Davis. In addition, the concept and scientific program was developed by USDA-CSREES Regional Research Project W-1168, an organization of seed researchers from 17 land grant and agricultural institutions across the United States.

The meeting will be held in Freeborn Hall on the UC Davis campus.
