Sacramento Valley Seed Production Tour

RH Phillips WineryFollowing the closure of the Symposium presentations at noon on Thursday, September 20, a limited number of spaces are available for an optional tour of seed harvesting operations and conditioning facilities in the Sacramento Valley followed by wine tasting and appetizers at the R.H. Phillips Winery.  The tour begins at 12:30 p.m. in front of Freeborn Hall, UC Davis. Participants will board a bus, enjoy a box lunch and several stops at field locations in the Sacramento Valley and at the Seminis seed conditioning plant in Williams, CA. Mechanized tomato and vine seed harvesting and processing as well as sunflower and other crops may be on the tour, depending upon the operations in RH Phillips Winery Tasting Roomprogress on that day. This is an opportunity to see specialized seed harvesting and conditioning operations that are unique to the Sacramento Valley. This will be followed by wine tasting and appetizers at the beautiful R.H. Phillips Winery from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. before returning to Davis via the bus for dinner on your own.
