Are you interested in joining the Abel Lab?
Undergraduate Students
Internships and 199 studies are an ideal way to acquire laboratory
skills by working independently under supervision of experienced lab
members on real research projects. You are welcome to join our lab
any time, if space permits. Please, call 752-5549 (office) or 754-8964
(lab) and ask for Steffen Abel. You also may simply visit us in 204 or
210 Asmundson Hall.
Graduate Students
To join our lab as a graduate student, please apply to one of the
following graduate groups: Biochemistry
and Molecular Biology (BMB) Graduate Group, Genetics
Graduate Group (GGG), or Plant
Biology Graduate Group (PBGG). During their first year, graduate students of
these groups are required to take five- or ten-week long "laboratory
rotations", which is an effective way to get exposed to a variety of
labs
and research projects, and to finally choose a lab for the dissertation
research. Arrangements for lab rotations can be made any time, the
sooner the better, by contacting Steffen Abel.
Postdoctoral Scientists
Openings for postdoctoral researchers are contingent on availability
of funding. However, applications are welcome any time and should
include a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, a brief statement
of
research interests, and three addresses of references. Preferential
consideration will be given to highly motivated scientists of
documented productivity. Please, send applications to: Steffen
Abel,
University of California-Davis, Department of Plant Sciences,
One
Shields Avenue, Davis, CA 95616, USA.
