I am interested in the dynamics of plant communities, particularly in the processes that dictate the structure of communities, and in their responses to anthropogenically-induced perturbations. I am especially interested in using biological invasions to inform a more general theoretical perspective on processes of plant community assembly and change. Invasion ecology offers insights into the dynamics of community-level interactions, feedbacks with disturbances and ecosystem functions, and landscape-scale patterns of community distributions. I conduct research through a combination of empirical field research, statistical and mathematical methodologies, as well as theoretical ecology, geographic information systems and remote sensing.
