FRS004-016: Plants for People

Winter Quarter

Plants play an important but often underestimated role in our societies. This includes not only our modern, Western societies but also local or indigenous societies on this and other continents. In addition to their obvious roles in feeding humans and animals, plants play an important role in our daily care, clothing, housing , medicine, transportation, and other uses. Over the ten weeks, students will explore these different roles of plants. by classroom discussions, internet and library research, but also visits to local stores to identify plant products that are commercialized.
