Perspective Links Climatogist Global warming IS occuring and this problem should be viewed as the most pressing and dire threat to humankind and many other species on the planet. Technology, environmental policy, and global economies have facilitated our current situation and they are the tools we need to reverse climate effects. Rangelands constitute 47% of the Earth's land surface and understanding the structure and function of these vast areas has consequences for the climate. The change they are undergoing, either from natural processes or human influence, will impede or expedite climate shifts. Climatogists are interested in the replacement of cool season plants with warm season, carbon sequestration in plants and the soil to reverse greenhouse gases, and how the integrity of the landscape affects it's overall functioning. |
