For his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees at Davis, Keith Woeste's research centered on breeding Persian walnut for resistance to walnut blight and walnut blackline disease. He now works as a Molecular Research Geneticist with the USDA Forest Service, stationed at Purdue University. There he breeds fine hardwood trees such as black walnut and black cherry and develops genetic tools for marker-assisted selection in forest tree breeding.
