Education:

B.S., Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution, UC San Diego 2001
PhD, Population Biology, UC Davis, (expected Spring 2008)

Research Interests:
Environmental heterogeneity is ubiquitous in natural systems and, in part, determines the distributions of plant populations on large (landscape) and small (0-10 m) spatial scales. I am interested in understanding the relative importance of phenotypic plasticity, local genetic differentiation, and maternal environmental effects in determining the distribution of an invasive plant species, Erodium cicutarium, in a heterogeneous serpentine soil landscape.
My graduate field research is conducted at the UC McLaughlin reserve: http://nrs.ucdavis.edu/mclaughlin.html
