The central theme of the research carried out by my group is understanding the basic
concepts and unifying principles behind agroecosystems. How do they function and how can
they produce food efficiently in a sustainable manner?
Some of the research issues analyzed by the Agroecosystems Group are addressed using classical agronomic experimental designs. In other instances, experiments are scaled up to the field or landscape level, and are analyzed using GIS and geostatistical methodology.
Our group aims at doing experiments at the scale at which
answers are needed, under conditions that are realistic to
farmers, wildlife conservationists and decision
makers.
