Eduardo Blumwald and Jorge Dubcovsky are Highly Cited Researchers Again

Eduardo Blumwald and Jorge Dubcovsky, UC Davis Plant Sciences, have been named in the Highly Cited Researchers 2019 list.

Sixteen UC Davis researchers have been named in the annual Highly Cited Researchers 2019 list released by the Web of Science Group, which compiles statistics on scientific publishing. The list identifies scientists and social scientists who have published multiple papers ranking in the top 1 percent by citations in a particular field and year, over a 10-year period. 

Citation counts represent how often a particular paper has been cited in other scientific publications. 

Plant Sciences department faculty Eduardo Blumwald and Jorge Dubcovsky were on the list last year and this year, and Blumwald was also listed in 2017.

Blumwald is a Distinguished Professor and the Will W. Lester Endowed Chair. He works on the cellular and molecular bases of adaptation of plants to biotic and abiotic stress, along with the molecular baes of fruit quality. Blumwald is a Fellow in the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and he received the Alexander von Humboldt Prize.

Dubcovsky is a Distinguished Professor who works on genetics, particularly wheat breeding, wheat genetics, and wheat varieties. Dubcovsky is also a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator, a member of the National Academy of Sciences, and he received the Wolf World Award in Agriculture.
