Weeds commonly seen in California rice fields are evolving to resist the chemicals growers use to control them. What can be done? Kassim Al-Khatib is a long-time expert in both weeds and rice, and he'll discuss his research in this free talk, "Herbicide-resistant weeds: A threat to the sustainability of California rice cropping."

Al-Khatib is the Melvin D. Androus Endowed Professor for Weed Science and a frequent speaker at our Rice Field Day events. His research looks at the physiology and ecology of the rice-weed relationship to develop management practices that prevent and manage weed resistance in rice.
