- Discovered new metabolic pathways in conifers using radioactive tracer chromatography, autoradiography, and cell and tissue cultures
- Promoted agricultural and forestry resources
- Patented the use of magnetic antibodies to recover taxol from yew trees
- Recipient, NASA’s Innovation Award
