Bio

Education: 

  • Ph.D., North Carolina State University; Biomathematics (minor: Ecology), 1982
  • M.S., North Carolina State University; Applied Mathematics, 1978
  • B.S., University of North Carolina; Mathematical Sciences, 1976

Research interests and expertise: 

Horticultural production of plants in protected cultivation (greenhouse, indoor, shade-house, screen-house, and nursery) with specialization in soilless production (substrate culture, liquid culture), irrigation and fertigation, with and without recirculation. Development of sustainable, environmentally sensitive plant production techniques and optimization of production variables related to commercial crop production. Development of decision support tools for growers based on crop and plant models
